Activities available include: Archery, Ax Throwing, Backpacking Skills, Blacksmithing, Cross Country Run, Fire Safety, Geology, Ham Radio, Laser Arcade, Log Raising, Mass Casualty Demonstration, Monkey Bridge, Rock Wall, Teen Café, and Volleyball. This year’s event will be at Mercer County Park Fairgrounds. Note that Scout musicians can join the ScoutFest Band. Registration Deadline was Friday, 9/28. Contact Mr. Rosengarden with any questions.
Fri-Sun, November 16-18, 2018
Join us a fun Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (C.O.P.E.) + the opportunity to show Arrow of Light Cub Scouts just how cool Troop 194 is! On Friday night, we’ll depart for the Round Valley Youth Center and setup camp. On Saturday morning, we’ll have breakfast, setup for the afternoon C.O.P.E. course and enjoy some free time. During the morning, Cub Scouts (whom are checking out Boy Scout troops) will arrive and will have lunch with us. We’ll then spend the afternoon doing a variety of C.O.P.E. games. Patrols will be created by mixing up scouts of all ages. You’ll have to attend to see what games you’ll enjoy! Past favorites have included the “spider web”, the “jewel heist”, “flip the raft”, “cross the radioactive river infested with man eating sharks”, and more. Cub Scouts are invited to camp on Saturday night in a separate campsite nearby. Registration Deadline is Friday,11/12. Contact Mr. Hand with any questions. HOORAY for pancakes!! The Applebee’s Pancake Fundraiser is approaching and all scouts should be selling the tickets to neighbors, friends and family members. If you need more tickets, please see Mrs. Gillespie. Please turn in the any money you collected and any unsold tickets to Mrs. Gillespie at least one week prior to the event. Please note how many tickets you have sold. We are asking everyone to sell a minimum of 5 tickets and to participate the day of the event. We need everyone’s participation to make this a success! You also have to complete and turn in the Release Waiver Liability form – otherwise you cannot participate in the fund-raiser. Look for a volunteer sign-up to come out soon. If you haven’t received your tickets yet, please see Mrs. Gillespie this Friday at the meeting!
We will be going to the Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope, NJ for Troop 194’s famous “Cast Iron Chef” cooking competition. Scouts will work in different patrols to cook meals using the ingredients that they are given. The scouts will not know what those ingredients are ahead of time, but must use each ingredient in some way to cook an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. Make sure to brush up on your Scout Skills as we will play a Scout Jeopardy game to win trips to the “special food pantry” for unique ingredients. The attending adults will sample and judge the results. We will be cooking outside, but will stay in a heated cabin. Registration Deadline is Friday, 2/16. Contact Mr. Chittenden with any questions.
